Being manipulated and controlled by something or someone is one of our greatest fears. This only unveils the reality that we don’t have the strength and power to rule over our own selves. With the poem we’ve just read, it only discussed the way of life of the Africans way back then. This is when the time they are totally colonized and controlled by the ‘Whites’. According to some sort of information pages, the reason why this belittling Africans scenario happened is because the Whites’ viewed themselves as the superior and known as the ‘civilized’ people who’s in the duty to civilize the ‘native barbarians’ (Africans). So, to think that they have all the power to make others life worthy and functional, they ruled and controlled the Africans. They colonized many African countries for their own benefit of getting raw materials and finally selling the finished products. The fact that the Africans can’t fight for their own rights this colonization continues to exist over many years.
