E-STAR - Student
E-Lecture - Conjunctions

A conjunction is a word that joins two Words, Phrases, Clauses or Sentences.

For example:

  • Sando and Zinah are twins.
  • I went to play, although it was hot outside.
  • The weather was sunny and warm.
  • The job is highly dangerous but interesting.

Conjunctions are used to form complex, elegant sentences and avoid the choppiness of multiple short sentences.

There are four main types of conjunctions:

  • Coordinating Conjunctions
  • Subordinating Conjunctions
  • Correlative Conjunctions
  • Conjunctive Adverbs
