Exponential rules

let a > 0 and b > 0 and x and y be real numbers, then it holds true that

Algebraic functions

An Algebraic function is a function constructed from polynomials using the algebraic operations addition, subtraction, multiplication, division and taking roots.

The main types of algebraic functions are

  • Polynomial functions
  • Rational functions
  • Power functions

Exponential functions

Functions that can be expressed in the form f(x) = ax, a > 0 and a ≠ 1 are called exponential functions. The domain of an exponential function is (−∞, ∞) and its range is (0, ∞).
